(often foll. by down) colloq. reprimand or snub. --n. 1 a blow with the palm of the hand or a flat object. 2 a slapping sound. --adv. 1 with the suddenness or effectiveness or true aim of a blow, suddenly, fully, directly (ran slap into him; hit me slap in the eye). 2 = slap-bang.
